Challenge MMI 03
Conversion of Calcium Sulfate as a By-Product to the Grade of Gypsum as Construction Materials

Calcium sulfate is a byproduct of the most with the sulfuric acid chemical processes.

In many cases, this product is turned into a dry cake with high purity in the factory after separation, filtration and washing.
Despite its high purity and gypsum phase conversion, it cannot be used as a construction material.

Therefore, many industries face large volumes of acidic waste depots that have high environmental accumulation costs.

The Challenge:

Inventing a method for converting process gypsum to construction gypsum with technical and economic justification on an industrial scale.
